Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Latest DLC Leak Bodes Well For Another Pokemon Legends Game | Games Rants

Highlights

  • Pokemon Legends: Arceus was a groundbreaking game that broke the mold of the mainline series, and its success and praise warrant a sequel in different regions, as hinted by recent leaks in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC.
  • The potential for a Pokemon Legends: Unova game seems promising, especially since Pokemon Legends: Arceus left many plot threads hanging. Players would appreciate a sequel to piece together the puzzle and explore new stories.
  • The recent leaks in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, particularly the introduction of Bloodmoon Ursaluna and Perrin, suggest a connection between modern games and Pokemon Legends: Arceus. This could foreshadow the future of the spin-off series and potentially lead to new missions and interactions in future games.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were and still are groundbreaking games when one looks at the many traditions from the mainline series that have been shattered for good by them, and there’s a chance that their upcoming expansions will keep at it. It’s hard to say whether Gen 9 was the most innovative in recent times, however, as they followed one of the Pokemon games that broke the mold the most, and that’s Pokemon Legends: Arceus. With a completely different base formula, the title not only won over many fans, but it received enough praise to warrant a Pokemon Legends sequel set in different regions – and recent Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC leaks could justify this even more.

After the massive success of the original, it only makes sense for a Pokemon Legends sequel to happen, especially since it could be a great way for the series to explore every region’s stories from a different perspective – as well as offer new tales for players to unravel. The potential for additional regional forms or evolutions is also incredibly high, as most Hisuian critters prove, with Ursaluna still being one of the overall favorites for many. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s The Teal Mask seemingly acknowledges this, and Game Freak has the perfect blueprint for another spin-off adventure.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Could Get a Sequel After Gen 9’s The Teal Maskpokemon scarlet violet the teal mask dlc all leaks explained pokedex moves abilities locations charactersInterestingly, Pokemon Legends: Arceus didn’t get paid DLCs or expansions despite it leaving many plot threads hanging, such as the odd time-traveling storyline involving Ingo from Pokemon Black and White or Alder’s pictures found in a clan encampment. With this premise, a sequel seems not only obvious, but also something that players would be thankful for due to how satisfying piecing the puzzle together could feel, especially if a game like Pokemon Legends: Unova ends up being in the cards alongside Gen 5 remakes.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s Teal Mask leaks that surfaced online recently include several interesting additions coming to Gen 9, but one of them sticks out like a sore thumb, and that’s Bloodmoon Ursaluna. Apparently, Ursaluna found its way to the land of Kitakami, where eventually it changed with time and became something else – with in-game terms, allegedly a Ground/Steel Pokemon that’s hard to tell if it is a regional form or something else. The callback to the region of Hisui and Ursaluna is already intriguing on its own, but the DLC is also coming with a suite of new characters, one of which might be a familiar face.

The latest trailers for The Teal Mask and The Indigo Disk DLCs showed Perrin, a photographer who looks a lot like the Diamond clan leader in Pokemon Legends: Arceus – Adaman. In fact, the leading theory is that Perrin is one of Adaman’s descendants, but what’s even more peculiar is that she is seemingly after a mysterious and rare creature, which according to the datamines could very well be Bloodmoon Ursaluna, further establishing a link between modern games and Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

If this is indeed the case, then it’s most likely not a coincidence that all of these references to Pokemon Legends: Arceus are taking place now in the post-launch content for Gen 9 games, especially with the February Pokemon Presents looming on the horizon. Given other weirdly timed references to Gen 5 in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s The Indigo Disk DLC, one could argue that maybe a Pokemon Legends: Unova game would make perfect sense as a new announcement next year. Moreover, Bloodmoon Ursaluna could further point toward a new Pokemon Legends game with in-game missions or interactions, and all of this bodes well for the spin-off’s future.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
