Disney Dreamlight Valley revealed its physical copy called the Cozy Edition, but its Switch version will come with a catch. Disney Dreamlight Valley is still currently in Early Access, and is expected to have a full free-to-play release later this year.

Released in 2022, Disney Dreamlight Valley allows players to create unique avatars and homes while exploring the wonderful open world, where they can befriend Disney characters. With Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s full release coming sometime soon, the game revealed its physical copy called the Cozy Edition, which will be available in retail later this year. It’s now available for pre-order for the Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. However, Gameloft noted in its FAQs that Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s Switch version won’t have a physical cartridge, and will instead have a download code inside a physical box. Meanwhile, other consoles will have actual discs inside their respective boxes.

In the past, other Switch ports for games like Overwatch also didn’t have physical cartridges. With Disney Dreamlight Valley Cozy Edition also following the same format, there might be some players who would opt out of getting the Switch version. There were already a few on social media who said that they were disappointed about only getting a download code.

Apart from the base game, Disney Dreamlight Valley Cozy Edition will include exclusive stickers, a Cheshire Cat Sweater for avatars, and animal companion skins. Players will also get free 14,500 Moonstones that they could use to purchase items in-game. Additionally, those who already have the base game installed on their consoles could still claim the Cozy Edition’s exclusive items if they redeem the Switch’s download code or insert the disc in their consoles.

Disney Dreamlight Valley has had its fair share of criticisms because of its microtransactions, which many players have deemed unfair and predatory. Only time will tell if Disney Dreamlight Valley players will raise a fuss over the Cozy Edition’s download code for the Switch. If anything, they still have the option to stick with the digital copies they have now or opt for the other Disney Dreamlight Valley editions that are already available.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
