Mortal Kombat 1 has released the gameplay trailer for Jean-Claude Van Damme’s skin. Mortal Kombat 1 is a big moment for fans as it marks the second reboot of the franchise. With a large cast of returning Kombatants, fans now have one more reason to celebrate.
This week, Mortal Kombat 1 revealed the first footage of the Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for Johnny Cage. Van Damme’s arrival in Mortal Kombat 1 ends a 30-year wait, after unsuccessful attempts to collaborate with the actor. The Van Damme skin is the third look confirmed for Mortal Kombat 1 and will be available to players who buy the Premium Edition. There are also two more confirmed skins, with Sub-Zero’s Día de Muertos skin exclusive to players in Latin America who pre-order the game. Brazilian players who pre-order Mortal Kombat 1 will get a Tanya skin that pays homage to Brazilian culture.
Mortal Kombat 1 recently released the gameplay trailer for Van Damme’s skin, with a younger appearance similar to when he appeared in hits such as Kickboxer. He battles Cage, followed by Raiden and Geras, showing fans what Johnny Cage’s moves look like when executed by Van Damme. The trailer then reveals another Johnny Cage Fatality in Mortal Kombat 1. Van Damme kicks his opponent into a luxury car through the windshield. He then opens and closes the car door, slicing his opponent in half in true Mortal Kombat fashion. Van Damme then sends the car off-screen along with his opponent, with an over-the-top ending just like Cage’s first finisher.
The trailer for Jean-Claude Van Damme’s skin also gave a closer look at the Scorpion Kameo Fighter, which fans haven’t seen much of yet. In the trailer, Scorpion performs some of his assists and his Fatal Blow. The Kameo Fighter is Mortal Kombat 1‘s new system in which players can select a fighter from a secondary roster. Mortal Kombat 1 players then will have access to this Kombatant’s moves, allowing them to create brutal attack combinations with their main pick.
Mortal Kombat 1 promises big changes in this new reboot. This time Liu Kang is a fire god, and many known fighters will have different roles. One example is the presence of Geras in Mortal Kombat 1. While the character was an antagonist in Mortal Kombat 11, now he seems to be on the good guy’s side. With Van Damme’s skin coming, and famous guest fighters such as Homelander and Omni-Man, many players wait to find out if other guests are on their way to Mortal Kombat 1.
Mortal Kombat 1 will launch on September 19 for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X|S.
