Titanfall 2, one of the most critically acclaimed shooters of 2016, is once again gaining popularity among FPS enthusiasts, thanks to a recent Steam sale. Despite being a solid game, Titanfall 2 initially flew under the radar for many reasons, such as its Origin platform exclusivity on PC and competition from rival FPS titles such as Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

Titanfall 2 can be considered one of the more unique first-person shooters on the market. In the game, players control intimidating but nimble mecha-style exoskeletons and their pilots who have a wide range of abilities such as wall-running and cloaking. Unlike its prequel, Titanfall 2 also had a dramatic single-player campaign mode, which was lauded by many gamers for its gameplay and level design. Unfortunately, the game’s popularity would end up fluctuating over time, with some loyal fans holding it in high esteem but many other players occasionally passing it up due to various reasons.

Titanfall 2 is currently significantly discounted on Steam, as the game is 90% off its original price. For a limited time, Titanfall 2 Ultimate Edition, which contains the game and all of its DLC, only costs $2.99. The offer started on September 4 and will end on September 18. Thanks to its affordable price which has likely made the game more attainable for a broader audience, Titanfall 2 is enjoying a new wave of popularity among gamers.

According to SteamDB, on September 6, 2023, no less than 21,814 players were playing Titanfall 2 at the same time. The FPS game had an all-time peak of 27,631 concurrent players on May 1, 2021, back when the game had a free-to-play weekend. All things considered, this is a tremendous achievement for the title, seeing how Titanfall 2 only had 7,000 concurrent players when it first launched on Steam.

Initially, Respawn Entertainment, the developers of Titanfall 2, planned to release a sequel to the game called Titanfall 3. However, due to the overwhelming success of Apex Legends – an immensely popular battle royale title set several decades after the events of Titanfall 2 and developed by the same team – Titanfall 3 was canceled after nearly a year of development. While many players might be upset that Titanfall 3 will never see the light of day, they can still relive their favorite Titanfall 2 moments thanks to the Steam deal.

Titanfall 2 is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
