The file size for NBA 2K24 has just been revealed, letting gamers know that the PC version will require 110 GB of space. Many basketball fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the sports title, as NBA 2K24 promises to have a more focused Career mode as well as many new gameplay features.

With the late legend Kobe Bryant and New York Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu as the cover athletes for NBA 2K24, 2K seems to be dedicated to honoring the past while also celebrating the future of basketball. NBA 2K24 also introduces crossplay for current-gen consoles as well as a mode called Mamba Moments, which will allow players to relive the best moments of the “Black Mamba,” while paying homage to the sports icon. With so many new features, a lot of gamers are wondering exactly how much storage space they should have on their hard drives in order to prepare for the game’s launch.

According to the game’s official Steam page, NBA 2K24 will require a whopping 110 GB of free space on the PC version, the same as last year’s title, NBA 2K23. It is not yet known how big the file size will be on consoles, however, several leakers have speculated that the download size of the game will be 160 GB on PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S, and around 104 GB for the previous generation consoles. That being said, this information should be taken with a grain of salt until 2K officially confirms it.

This is by all accounts a rather large file size requirement, especially when comparing NBA 2k24 with other sports games such as Madden NFL 24 which only needs 50 GB, or WWE 2K23 which requires 80 GB of space on PC. Nevertheless, as the gaming industry constantly attempts to improve the standard of graphical realism, it is only natural that file sizes will inevitably expand.

2K Sports is also hyping up an entirely new and innovative feature for NBA 2K24 called ProPLAY which is meant to drastically increase the game’s graphical fidelity. ProPLAY utilizes modern technology to capture actual NBA footage in order to model player movements, which in turn will make the in-game dribbling animations substantially smoother and add another touch of much-needed realism to the basketball simulator. This feature could understandably be one big reason for the gigantic file size requirements of the title.

NBA 2K24 launches September 8 on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
